Spring!

Can you believe this weather? We are setting records left and right when it comes to temperatures. We are 10 and more degrees above normal for this time of year. I believe yesterday it got up to 84 degrees and we had to turn on the air in the house.

It's crazy!

People are enjoying it but I have to say there are many that are kind of freaking out. Everyone is talking about global warming, end of days, the horrible summer we're going to have and the even worse winter we will have. Either way, whatever the reason, I'm going to enjoy the weather. I'm going to keep living life the best way I know how.

Do I think the weather is weird? Sure!
Do I think we might have a horrible summer? Maybe.
Do I think winter might be the worst yet? I don't know.

I do know that I will keep pluggin' away. I will keep living my life the best way I can. That's all I can do. Biblically, God says, "Don't worry about tomorrow because He will take care of us." And that's what I'm going to do. I'm putting my life, my family in His hands because I know he'll take care of it. He loves me way more that I can comprehend.

So why worry?

Beautiful Girl!

I just love this girl to pieces! I found this picture while cleaning out some old files on my computer at school. This was taken in fourth grade. I love her hair and her sweet expression. Ohhhh how I miss these days!

New business venture!

My friend, Sam and I have started a new business. I'm not afraid to say I'm nervous about it but so far it's going really well.

This month, we started a business called Sugar Blooms. We make candy bouquets. We do any and all occasions. We just happened to start our business the week before Valentine's Day which was the perfect occasion to market our bouquets. Sam was unsure whether it would go but I reassured her that people would love them! They were new, different, outrageous, cute, and VERY fun! We made just a few and instantly sold them. We made a few more and they sold. We started telling more people about them and orders were placed and before we knew it, we sold more than we thought we ever would. We were stunned and speechless. We thought maybe, just maybe we were having beginner's luck (since it was Valentine's Day) so we held our breath the week after Valentine's Day but slowly, orders kept trickling in.

We had two birthdays, four just because bouquets, two baby showers.... then it grew some more. Two more baby showers and then a sweet sixteen birthday with party favors.

Can I just say.......SHEER HAPPINESS!!! I'm just so excited! I'm hoping the word gets out and we continue to get orders and business. I would love it if this just took off and went crazy!

Sometimes I'm fearful! Sometimes I get scared thinking about "What if we fail?" But while we have a lot of uncertain-ness right now, my nervousness quickly moves into excited energy as Sam and I make bouquets, make our website, our FB page and announce to the world "WE ARE IN BUSINESS!" We hope our creative energy is infectious and it catches on quick!

Spread the news! Sugar Blooms Bouquets...it's all about the Sugar!

A little Hard to Believe!

Here it is...February is nearly over and I'm still shocked to say we have not had ONE snow day this year. For those of you who do not live in Indiana, this is nearly unheard of around here. We ALWAYS have snow days. We ALWAYS have snow, fog, ice, icy fog or something that causes us to have school called off.

On top of that, we've had NO delays this year either. We either get one or two-hour delays when there is fog, or inclimate weather which causes bad conditions on the road in the morning especially. Two-hour delays help with it warming up a smidge so roads are easier to get down and buses can see better where they are going. After all, it's all about the safety of our kids.

I love a good snow day. I love a good delay. I love to be able to take my time in the morning and letting the kids sleep in a little bit. I love it when the weather is so bad and we don't have school which allows us to be lazy and play alllll day.

This has been such a crazy winter with above average temperatures and very little snowfall and LOTS of rain. It will be interesting what kind of Spring and Summer we will have this year.

A little hard to believe but I'm sure we'll live through it. Hopefully Spring comes early and before we know it, flowers and trees will be blooming and we'll be able to play outside soon.

If you love the unexpected, you'd definitely love Indiana!!!

Christmas Tree

I love our Christmas tree. There's nothing special about it. I've written about it before. It's almost 20 years old but I still love it especially once it's decorated with white lights and have all my children's ornaments on it. It's just beautiful.

I did find some pictures of some not-so-cute trees. I thought I'd post a few. I know some of you will probably love the pink and white tree because it's trendy and chic. Well, it that's chic, then I don't want any part of it. And...ummm...excuse me...but isn't that an orange monkey as the tree topper??? HORENDOUS!

A favorite game

My parents introduced my kids to a new game last weekend and they LOVE it. I remember seeing this game in the closet when I was young but never played it. It didn't look exciting enough. I have to say, my parents are so good about finding fun things for the kids to do when they are at their house. They are always introducing them to fun games, crafts, and baking that they don't do at our house. I guess that's why grandparents are so much fun!
Tripoly is a game that has aspects of Michigan rummy, poker, and hearts. While I don't condone gambling for children (ha!) this game is a lot of fun and the kids absolutely love it.

My mom tried to find Tripoly for the kids for Christmas but didn't have any luck. It is, after all an older game and not as popular today as it was several years ago.

On Sunday, Elijah and I were doing some shopping at Meijer and we decided to see if there were any sales on some fun board games. On the very bottom shelf, we found it. On sale for $9.99...there it was....TRIPOLY! Sydney is going to be SO excited when they open it.

I have a feeling we will be playing a lot of Tripoly over Christmas break.

I'm so excited!

On top of that, this will be one of those memories Elijah, Noah, and Sydney will carry over to their children. They will tell their children how Granny and Pappy taught them out to play Tripoly and then we bought it for our house. Maybe even one day, Chad and I will teach our grandchildren to play Tripoly. What a fun thing to pass down to your children's children...games and having fun...TOGETHER!

One of my favorite things

Goodness knows I'm no Oprah but I do have some favorite things. No, I won't be able to buy you each one of these but I do reccomend getting one.

You can get these cups just about anywhere. Walmart has reasonably priced ones and I notied this weekend that Walgreens had some Christmas style cups that were a bit smaller but really fun. My friend, Sam actually got me one of these and I love them. Fill them up with ice and water and they are good all day. It keeps your drinks cold and they are SO cute! Most are different colors and have decorations on the outside. Sam got me a clear one with a blue lid and blue straw with a snowflke on the outside. It's so fun! I just love it!

If you get one, please wash them by hand to keep them extra nice.

Definitely a good gift for a stocking. They run about $7 to &12 depending on size and kind.

Enjoy!
